Responsibilities and Tasks

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide robust engineering solutions/advice to ensure technical accuracy of specification, design and reports
  • Develop recommendations to improve technical solutions in order to deliver bets practise, as well as providing input into the development of procedures and methods
  • Build a good internal network to ensure understanding of technical and business requirement
  • Mentor and coach engineers in order to develop overall capability
  • Directly contribute and take responsibility for system and design outcomes within tenders
  • Provide final approval of the resource plan
  • Approve modifications to an existing product line/element
  • Lead and motivate team in order to inspire commitment to project success and to ensure all work is completed in line with contracted requirement
  • Provide input within the bid process by preparing analyses/reports/’what-if’ scenarios as required by use of standard models and process
  • Monitor and control allocated human and material resources , maintaining financial and progress forecasting in order to ensure project are delivered according to schedule and within budget

TASKS:

  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple activities of projects
  • Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chairs the project management team meetings
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Demonstrate a functional expertise to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
  • Manage project scope and changes
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
  • Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution
  • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed
  • Support formal/informal schedules to manage the engagement contract
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues
  • Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverable with team members and stakeholders
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, client and key stakeholders
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project and program team, analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project and program life cycle
  • Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication
  • Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards
  • Manage project and program issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline
  • Continue professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices
  • Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques

Qualifications and Personal Qualities


  • Possess a degree in Project Management /Engineering/ Oil and Gas/ Petrochemicals
  • Must be registered as Professional Engineer with BEM / IEM
  • Preferably registered as Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • >20 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas/ Petrochemicals Industry, Engineering or EPCIC background preferred.

  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence

  • Broad relevant experiences within an engineering disciplines

  • Ability to address complex issues and to provide guidance to others as to approach chosen and how work should be conducted

  • Sound understanding of technology area and will know who/where to go to for deeper knowledge and experiences

  • Good understanding of how works and business areas

  • Ability to provide technical explanations and advice to less technically knowledgeable team members

  • Good understanding of how engineering solutions and advice will impact all internal customer

  • Establish sales track-record and an understanding of major capital program processes

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing/developing relationship at senior level within organizations of significant size and complexity and the achievement of defined commercial objectives

  • Expertise in securing significant influence and impact at the most senior levels within organization , supported by an understanding of how an organization work informally as well as formally

  • Good understanding of the business activities and commercial value chain of the client organization within the scope of this role
