As the Operations Safety Lead - JHB, you will report directly to the Manager Safety Operations & Governance, and work closely with the wider Safety team, making your mark in several ways:
- Integral in building a safety culture by advising on the health, safety and risk associated with business activities across Business Operations.
- Drive implementation of excellence in safety practice to ensure safety is a core value for all workers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Implement industry-leading quality measures across the business that will lead to sustainable business outcomes.
Your Day to Day
With a focus on Operational Data Centers, you will:
- Champion the safety culture and embed safety as a core value by engaging with workers, management and contractors to assist with the implementation of strategic safety improvement initiatives.
- Lead incident management processes to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
- Assist site teams to review hazards, near misses, incidents and incident investigations including root cause analysis and work with teams to develop and implement corrective actions.
- Provide support to site teams in addressing safety concerns as needed.
- Contribute to safety risk management projects across AirTrunk's Business Operations.
- Support the continuous improvement and implementation of AirTrunk's safety management system and safety data and information systems.
- Assist in the analysis and presentation of safety data to identify trends and patterns for prompting action on improvements as required.
- Ensure compliance with legal safety requirements as well as internal management system requirements.
- Participate in the Safety in Design processes during project lifecycles.
- Support the contractor management process across regional locations, including safety prequalification activities and due diligence.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build relationships across all sites.
- Attend, engage and collaborate in customer and safety team meetings.
- Assist with presentations to customers and collaborate with customers, vendors and suppliers to achieve safety outcomes Assist with safety critical initiatives, programs and projects as required.
- Provide safety training, mentoring and coaching as required.
Requirements
- 5+years in a safety role with experience with operations, or facility management and contractors in high-hazard industries such as construction, electrical, oil & gas, mining, or processing plants - critical environment experience is highly regarded.
- Qualifications in the Work Health and Safety or a related field.
- Competent occupational safety health coordinator under DOSH.
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of safety management systems.
- Auditing and inspection experience both internally and of third parties.
- In-depth knowledge of risk management strategies and processes.
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Competent written, verbal and data presentation skills.
- Well-developed communication, collaboration, influence and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced changing environment and work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience influencing workers, management, and contractors.
- Safety experience across developing economies a plus.
- Ability and flexibility to travel interstate regularly and as required to other locations across APJ region.
