Job Description: Jr.Fiber Technician

Position Overview:

A Fiber Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables.

This role involves working with cutting-edge telecommunications technology to ensure high-speed data transmission and reliable network performance.

The technician must be skilled in handling fiber optic cables, equipment, and tools while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

- Installation and Setup: Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables and related equipment in various environments, including residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

- Maintenance and Repair: Diagnose and repair fiber optic network issues, including signal loss, connectivity problems, and physical cable damage.

- Testing and Troubleshooting: Use specialized equipment such as optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR), fusion splicers, and power meters to test and troubleshoot fiber optic networks.

- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and test results. Prepare reports and documentation as required.

- Customer Service: Interact with clients to explain technical issues, provide solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction.

- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.

- Collaboration: Work closely with network engineers, project managers, and other technicians to complete projects efficiently and effectively.

- Training and Development: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

Qualifications:

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in telecommunications, electronics, or a related field is preferred.

- Experience: Fresh graduate are welcome or Minimum of 1 year of experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance.

- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using fiber optic tools and equipment; strong understanding of fiber optic technology, network infrastructure, and telecommunications standards.

- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various environments (indoor and outdoor), lift and carry heavy equipment, and perform tasks that require climbing and standing for extended periods.

- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA) or equivalent are highly desirable.
