Job Summary

• Performs all pre-testing procedures at main lab following established procedures.
• Performs all diagnostic tests, special tests, and confirmatory tests as standard procedures. Assist and coordinate all technical and operational activities within the assigned section, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to turnaround times.
• Operates and handles equipment according to operating instructions and perform schedule and preventive maintenance as needed. Maintains all equipment are in good conditions.
• Trouble shoot technical problems as required.
• Prepares routine and special reagents, solutions, stains, media, disinfectants, buffers, etc.
• Verify and confirms results obtained prior releasing the report.
• Able to supervise and train MLS II, MLS I, MLTs, and trainees.
• Oversees equipment maintenance schedules, calibration, and troubleshooting for the section; plans and manages departmental stock for reagents/consumables.
• Attends to post-test works such as sterilization, disposal of specimen and patient care duties.
• Assist in the compilation and analysis of statistical data especially for Quality Objective (QO) and Special Patient Indicator (SPI).
• Assist in the following: Quality management system, accreditation program, statistical analysis, budgeting, ordering supplies and reagents, liaise with wards/ departments/ suppliers/ manufacturers, stock/ inventory checks maintenance of records, health & safety/ infection control program.
• Reviews and monitors internal and external QC performance for the section on a routine basis; ensures corrective actions are documented; maintains QC records for audits and accreditation.
• Observe safety procedures and emergency procedures when performing work in laboratory. Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of workbench in assign area(s).
• Ensure the records in the assigned section such as analysers maintenance/ Instruction of Use (IFU)/ Safety Data Sheet (SDS)/ refrigerator / incubator/ freezer/ ambient temperature monitoring and humidity and etc are up to date and corrective action are implemented as necessary.
• Able to assist in assigned section to meet ISO15189 technical requirements.
• Notify Clinicians of critical results and / or abnormal results when warranted.
• Any other tasks as and when assigned by the Assistant Manager or Manager, Laboratory.
• At all times, to maintain strict confidentiality of any information you may become aware of during duties.
• Promotes professional development for self and team; organises or facilitates training sessions.
• To perform the External Quality programme and to monitor the performance with proper corrective action taken.
• Assist in method validation and verification studies for all new tests in the ISO15189 scopes, work in hand with Senior MLS/ Senior MLT.
• To keep record all in-use documents and separate obsolete documents for references.

Job Requirement

• Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science or an equivalent qualification in a related field.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and procedures.
• Sound understanding of the basic concepts and principles of medical laboratory technology.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of working experience in a biomedical laboratory is an advantage.
• Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English, with the ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to maintain laboratory instruments and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Experience in operating a variety of laboratory equipment and performing quality control procedures is an advantage.
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
