Job Summary

Operate and set up conventional and/or CNC lathe machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules while ensuring workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathe machines.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
• Machine components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform turning, facing, drilling, boring, threading, knurling, and grooving operations.
• Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.
• Make machine offsets and minor program adjustments (for CNC machines) when required.
• Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure product quality.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep machines in good working condition.
• Record production data and report machine issues or non-conforming products to the supervisor.
• Maintain good housekeeping and comply with all safety, health, and environmental requirements.
• Support continuous improvement activities to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

Job Requirements

• Minimum SPM, SKM/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Machining, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience operating manual or CNC lathe machines (experience requirement may vary based on seniority).
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
• Proficient in using precision measuring instruments.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to work shifts and overtime when required.
