Jawatan Kosong Technician, HVAC Service in Petaling Jaya

Job Summary

The Manual Milling Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional milling machines to manufacture, modify, and repair precision engineering components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications. The role requires high attention to detail, precision machining skills, and adherence to Walta Engineering's quality, safety, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation

• Set up and operate manual milling machines safely and efficiently.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machine settings for each machining job.
• Perform milling operations including:
• Face milling
• Slot milling
• Keyway milling
• Drilling
• Boring
• Chamfering
• Surface finishing
• Ensure machining processes meet customer specifications and production schedules.

2. Read Engineering Drawings

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Understand dimensions, GD&T symbols, tolerances, surface finish requirements, and machining sequences.
• Produce components according to drawing specifications.

3. Precision Measurement & Inspection

• Inspect workpieces using precision measuring instruments, including:
• Vernier caliper
• Outside & inside micrometer
• Height gauge
• Dial indicator
• Bore gauge
• Thread gauge
• Steel rule
• Verify dimensions and tolerances before releasing finished parts.

4. Machine Setup

• Install and align cutting tools.
• Secure workpieces using vises, clamps, angle plates, and fixtures.
• Adjust machine settings to achieve optimal machining performance.
• Perform trial cuts and fine-tune machine settings as required.

5. Quality Assurance

• Conduct in-process and final inspections.
• Ensure all machined components comply with customer drawings and quality requirements.
• Identify machining defects and take corrective action where applicable.
• Report non-conforming products to the supervisor.

6. Equipment Care & Maintenance

• Perform daily cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on milling machines.
• Check lubrication levels and machine condition before operation.
• Report equipment abnormalities or breakdowns immediately.
• Maintain machines and workstations in clean and orderly condition following 5S practices.

7. Safety & Compliance

• Follow company safety policies and standard operating procedures.
• Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ensure safe handling of machines, tools, materials, and lifting equipment.
• Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement activities.

8. Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with supervisors, QC Inspectors, and fellow machinists.
• Assist in improving machining methods to increase productivity and reduce waste.
• Support company initiatives for Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

Education

• SPM, SKM, Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating conventional/manual milling machines.
• Experience in a precision machining or engineering manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Fresh graduates with relevant machining training may be considered for junior positions.

Knowledge & Technical Skills

• Proficient in operating manual milling machines.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of machining tolerances and fits.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, cutting parameters, and machining techniques.
• Familiar with machining materials such as:
• Mild Steel
• Stainless Steel
• Aluminium
• Brass
• Copper
• Engineering Plastics (where applicable)
• Able to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
• Basic knowledge of ISO quality requirements is an advantage.

Working Conditions

• Manufacturing and machine shop environment.
• Standing for extended periods during machine operation.
• Exposure to machine noise, metal chips, coolant, and cutting fluids.
• Overtime may be required to meet production schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience machining precision components for industrial equipment, jigs & fixtures, or custom engineering parts.
• Ability to perform machine setup independently.
• Knowledge of conventional lathe operations is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems is preferred.

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
