In this role, you will:

As part of our Secure Platform product, you will operate a high-security infrastructure for BASF's most critical infrastructure services. The area of responsibility covers the entire lifecycle of the infrastructure, including consulting, design, construction, and further development.

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

• Provide capability to install, configure, and manage a highly available and scalable VMware/virtualization infrastructure.
• Service ownership for VMWare Cloud Management Platform (incl. vCloud Operations Manager, vCenter, vRealize). Plan and configure vSphere networking and storage solutions.
• Develop plans for deploying and administering virtual machines. Establish and maintain service levels; perform troubleshooting; monitor vSphere implementations; and manage vCenter server alarms.
• Own data protection, access, authentication control, resource management, monitoring, high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability for the virtualized infrastructure.
• Participate in enterprise testing for integration of proposed new technologies to be included in the enterprise design and develop test-related documentation.
• Provision virtual machines and patches to the software and hardware hosting infrastructure.
• Maintain and restore VM "backups" and snapshots.
• Ability to support escalations and communicate with 3rd party vendors.
• Complete projects to support business initiatives.

Job Requirements

Education

• You have successfully completed your technical education with a focus on computer science and have acquired several years of professional experience in the IT environment, especially in the operation of server platforms in the enterprise environment.

Working Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience in enterprise-class datacenter environments
• You can prove your distinctive knowledge in IT security through practical experience and ideally corresponding certifications.

Technical & Professional Knowledge

• In the area of virtualization software, you can apply your sound knowledge (e.g. in the programs vSphere and vCenter) in an exciting work environment.
• You are familiar with vSAN and Dell EMC VxRail technology and have several years of professional experience.
• You are professionally skilled with the VEEAM AVAILABILITY SUITE.
• You will have experience working in an Enterprise environment and supporting large and complex environments. You are familiar with cooperation and division of labor with several providers.
• Very good spoken and written English proficiency.
• Strong interpersonal skills and high competence to influence the team to drive for results.
• Experiencing Agile way of working or agile implementation approach are an plus.
