JOB VACANCY – BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Location: Melaka

We are seeking an energetic and commercially driven Business Development Engineer to join our team in Melaka.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with potential and existing clients, and supporting the growth of the company's mechanical engineering and construction business in Melaka and the surrounding regions.

This position is suitable for engineering graduates who are interested in developing a career combining engineering, client engagement, sales and business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities in Melaka and surrounding industrial areas.
• Conduct regular client visits and develop relationships with existing and potential customers.
• Identify upcoming projects, maintenance requirements, tenders and other potential opportunities.
• Promote the company's engineering and construction capabilities to potential clients.
• Understand clients' technical and commercial requirements and coordinate internally to develop suitable proposals.
• Follow up on enquiries, Request for Quotations (RFQs), tenders and submitted proposals.
• Coordinate with the Engineering, Project, Estimation and Management teams in preparing technical and commercial proposals.
• Maintain regular communication and follow-up with clients throughout the business development and tendering process.
• Develop and maintain a database of potential clients, projects and business opportunities.
• Monitor market developments, competitor activities and upcoming industrial projects.
• Prepare weekly and monthly business development reports, including client visits, enquiries, opportunities and tender status.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, exhibitions, networking events and industry functions when required.
• Support the Branch Manager and Management in achieving business development and revenue targets.
• Assist with other business development and commercial activities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates with 1–3 years of experience in business development, technical sales, engineering, construction, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, manufacturing or industrial services will have an added advantage.
• Strong interest in business development, sales and client engagement.
• Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Confident in meeting and communicating with clients.
• Commercially minded with the ability to understand basic technical requirements.
• Proactive, resourceful and willing to develop new business contacts.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Possess a valid driving licence and own transportation.
• Willing to travel regularly for client meetings and site visits.

• Is comfortable approaching new clients and developing new contacts.
• Has an engineering mindset but is interested in the commercial side of the business.
• Is persistent in following up on opportunities and enquiries.
• Can work independently and take ownership of business development activities.
• Is willing to learn about mechanical construction, piping, equipment installation, maintenance and other industrial services.
• Has the ambition to develop into a strong business development and commercial professional.
